Great journalism and photography go hand-in-hand, and at FactorUK we appreciate both.
The best photographs can live long in the memory – and in stock car racing we are blessed with some great photographers. And here at FactorUK, we want to celebrate their skill.
FactorUK has created its own Photo of the Year Awards. We have invited ten photographers, both official and unofficial, to send in their five best or favourite photos they have taken during the 2018 BriSCA F1 season.
We didn’t want just crash and bang photos. Anything that captures the emotion, pathos and excitement of the sport, or simply a stunning image would suffice.
We have split the Awards into two categories. One is the Photographer Portfolio of the Year and the other is the Photo of the Year.
The Portfolio Award will be decided by FactorUK and a panel of judges, while the Photo of the Year will include a public vote.
And this is where you come in!
Below each photo is the name of the photographer and a number alongside. There are more than 50 photographs to choose from and we want you to select FIVE photos, in order of preference, you think capture the sport better than any of the others and send your top five list via email to neil.randon@factoruk.com, and include the heading PHOTO OF THE YEAR and your full name and address.
As an example, this is how to nominate:
My top five photos are:
1st A N Other 2
2nd Joe Bloggs 3
3rd David Bailey 1
4th Mr Snapper 5
5th Paparazzi Pete 4
By using a points system (1st = 10 points, 2nd = 7pts, 3rd = 5pts, 4th = 3pts, 5th = 1pt) the top five point-scoring photos will be put on a short list and then a panel of judges (including the Sports Picture Editor of the Daily Express and Daily Star) will decide the winner.
And so, you have until noon on Saturday, December 8 to cast your votes. The top five photos will be published on Wednesday, December 12 and the winners of Photo of the Year and Photographer Portfolio of the Year will be announced on Friday, December 14.
